Policy Board · State Fire Defense Committee

The backbone of the Washington State Fire Services Mobilization Plan is the Washington State Fire Defense Committee. Originally created in statute as a Board, it was changed to a Committee and is now a working group of the State Fire Protection Policy Board.

The Committee membership consists of:

  • The Washington State Fire Marshal
  • Emergency Management Division
  • Washington State Department of Natural Resources: Resource Protection Division

The committee meets monthly and is responsible for:

  • Reviewing and updating the Mobilization Plan
  • Establishing policies concerning fire service personnel
  • Soliciting membership for Incident Management Teams
  • Assisting in locating and tracking fire service resources
  • Recommending Rate Schedule for the Washington State Chiefs Association approval
  • Approving or denying claims
  • Forwarding appeals to the Chief of Washington State Patrol for final decision
