Washington State Patrol Detectives Seeks Witnesses in Fatal Hit and Run Collision

 November 26, 2019

Skagit County – On November 20, 2019 at approximately 1:18a.m., Tonya Pearson was struck and killed while she was walking in the southbound Interstate 5 (I-5) lanes near the Bow Hill rest area near milepost 238. Pearson was struck by a pickup truck and a semi-truck; the pickup truck did not remain on scene.

During the on-scene investigation, Washington State Patrol Troopers were able to collect several pieces of vehicle debris which are believed to be from the pickup truck. It has been determined that the vehicle debris is associated with a 2008-2010 Ford Super Duty F-250, F-350 or F-450 that is possibly dark in color.

Washington State Patrol detectives are seeking any witnesses that may have information pertaining to this collision. We also had several 9-1-1 calls earlier in the evening regarding Pearson standing in the northbound lanes of I-5 near Bow Hill rest area. If you know about this collision, or have information regarding the events earlier in the evening or know someone who does, you are asked to email or call Detective Kevin Nelson at kevin.nelson@wsp.wa.gov or (360) 654-1140.
