Annual Night of 1000 Stars Event

December 5, 2019

SNOHOMISH COUNTY – The Washington State Patrol (WSP), in partnership with several local agencies, will continue the persistent fight to stop impaired driving on Friday, December 6 for the annual ‘Night of 1,000 Stars’ event in Snohomish County.

Our statewide Target Zero Teams continue to strive for our ultimate goal of zero preventable fatalities by the year 2030. The troopers in District 7 have worked relentlessly this year to help achieve our goal; there has been a total of 3215 suspected DUI driver’s taken off our roadways. On December 6, Trooper Cale Hayes will be awarded by the Snohomish County DUI & Target Zero Task Force as Trooper of the Year for his remarkable efforts in preventing a possibly tragedy caused by impaired drivers; he has arrested a total of 192 impaired drivers so far this year.

As staggering as these numbers may seem, troopers across Washington State continue to work around the clock in the attempt to remove impaired drivers from the roadway. So far this year, 13,920 DUI contacts have been made by WSP Troopers. Any person that drives impaired is inexcusable! We will continue to strive to make Washington roadways the safest in the nation.
