Trooper Involved in Shooting near Chehalis

Lewis County, WA – On May 26, 2020, at approximately 8:45 PM, a trooper working the Chehalis area contacted a female pedestrian southbound Interstate 5 near milepost 70. During the contact, gunfire was exchanged between the pedestrian and the trooper. The trooper was able to take cover behind his patrol vehicle, suffering minor scrapes. The pedestrian sustained injuries and was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The Region 3 Critical Investigation Team will be handling the investigation. Media seeking information should contact Mason County Chief Deputy Jason Dracobly at jdracobly@co.mason.wa.us. The roadway was closed for approximately six hours while the on scene investigation was completed.
