Spokane County – State fire assistance has been mobilized under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan in support of local firefighters working to contain the Euclid Track Fire located in Spokane County, near Airway Heights. The Euclid Track Fire is burning in grass and timber. Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized the mobilization of state firefighting resources on September 7, 2020, at 9:00 pm at the request of Deputy Fire Chief Orlando Sandoval, Spokane County Fire District 10. The Euclid Track Fire started on September 7, 2020, at approximately 4:36 pm. This fire is estimated at 25 acres and growing. It is threatening homes. Level 2 evacuations are in effect at this time. The fire cause is currently under investigation. Mobilization specialists from the Fire Protection Bureau have ordered one strike team.
Pierce County – State fire assistance has also been mobilized under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan in support of local firefighters working to contain the 244th Command Fire located in Pierce County, near Graham. The 244th Command Fire is burning in heavy timber. Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized the mobilization of state firefighting resources on September 8, 2020, at 2:30 am at the request of Assistant Fire Chief Steve Richards, Graham Fire and Rescue. The 244th Command Fire started on September 7 2020, at approximately 10:22 pm. This fire is estimated at 100 acres and growing. It is threatening manufactured homes. Level 3 evacuations are in effect at this time. The fire cause is currently under investigation. Mobilization specialists from the Fire Protection Bureau have ordered one strike team.
The State Emergency Operations Center at Camp Murray will remain activated to Level 1 to help coordinate state assistance for both the Euclid Track and 244th Command Fires.
Under the State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan, the Fire Protection Bureau coordinates the initial dispatch and continued administrative oversight of resources and personnel for the duration of the mobilization. The Mobilization Plan is implemented to provide a process to quickly notify, assemble and deploy fire service personnel, equipment and other resources from around the state when fires, disasters or other events exceed the capacity of local jurisdictions.
