Fire Prevention Week 2020 – Keep Your Kitchen Clutter Free

October 07, 2020 –

Olympia – This year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign, “Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen!” works to educate everyone about the simple but important actions they can take to keep themselves, and those around them, safe in the kitchen.

The Washington State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFMO) joins the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) in advising residents to keep cooking areas clear and clutter free. Keep anything that can catch fire away from your stovetop. This includes oven mitts, towels, cookbooks, wooden utensils, and food packaging.

To find out more about Fire Prevention Week programs and activities in your area, contact your local fire department. For more general information about Fire Prevention Week and cooking fire
prevention, visit https://www.nfpa.org/fpw.
