FIFE – Two men were left with serious injuries when they were the victims of a hit and run collision on Interstate 5 near Fife. Washington State Patrol (WSP) detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the fleeing vehicle and driver.
On Saturday, May 8, 2021, at approximately 4:02 a.m., a gray 2010 Lexus sedan struck a guardrail on southbound Interstate 5 at 54th Avenue East near mile marker 137 in Pierce County. After the vehicle came to a stop in the right lane, the driver and passenger exited it and stood on the right shoulder near the guardrail. A second vehicle, traveling southbound, approached the disabled Lexus and swerved to the right to avoid a collision. Instead, the vehicle struck both men standing on the right shoulder. The vehicle failed to stop at the scene and continued southbound on Interstate 5, leaving both victims behind with serious injuries.
While unable to determine the make and model, investigators believe that the running vehicle could be a dark-colored sedan. It is likely damage can be observed on the right side of the vehicle’s front bumper and on the right fender.
WSP Detectives request assistance to locate the suspect vehicle. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Det. Brooke Bova at (253) 538-3202.
