Pursuit Leads to Shooting Incident

Fife – On June 25, 2021, at approximately 0600 AM, a Washington State Patrol trooper assisted Fife Police Department (Fife PD) officers who were pursuing a stolen terminal tractor, a vehicle utilized to move commercial vehicle trailers inside of warehouses.

The Fife PD officers utilized stop sticks in an attempt to end the pursuit. The terminal tractor struck several buildings and a Fife PD vehicle, causing disabling damage to it. After the vehicle had continued into a warehouse parking lot, officers advised dispatch that shots had been fired.

Lifesaving measures were attempted, but the suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene. This is preliminary information based on initial reports of the incident and is an ongoing investigation.

Due to the agency’s involvement in this incident, the Washington State Patrol will not be involved in the investigation. Per Initiative 940, the Washington State Patrol is unable to provide further comments regarding this incident.
