WSP Media Release Cover

June 30, 2021

King County: At approximately 5:15 am this morning, June 30, 2021, Washington State Patrol (WSP) communications received a 9-1-1 call reporting that debris was being thrown onto EB I-90 in the area of Rainier Ave.

WSP requested that the Seattle Police Department (SPD) check the area and attempt to locate the witness that advised they would remain in the area for contact. Thankfully no damage or injuries were sustained in this incident.

SPD officers arrived and contacted a trooper who was speaking with the eye witness.  The witness stated that he observed the female suspect go back into an encampment area in the green belt area just east of I-90 which also has unrestricted access to the overpass that she was seen throwing the object.

SPD officers contacted the suspect who was the only person in the encampment. The witness made a positive identification and the suspect was arrested for Reckless Endangerment.  As the investigation continued it was discovered that the object thrown was a glass bottle which was photographed for evidentiary purposes.

The suspect, Treattraina M. Tillman, a 40 year old female, was booked into the King County jail on the Reckless Endangerment charge.

The agencies involved in addressing this ongoing criminal activity agree that every arrest is progress but in no way does this mean the problem is solved.  The combined emphasis with the WSP, SPD and the Department of Transportation will continue for the foreseeable future

The WSP and SPD continue to ask for the public’s help by calling 9-1-1 whenever a pedestrian is observed on the freeway system or appear to have the intention of throwing objects off of overpasses. Provide a description and location and we WILL respond to all calls!
