August 3, 2021

King County:  At approximately 6:00am this morning, August 3, 2021, Washington State Patrol (WSP) communications receive a 9-1-1 call from an individual reporting that they had been shot at on I-5.

The victim stated he was traveling NB I-5 near downtown Seattle when he observed a vehicle approaching him from behind at a high rate. He changed lanes to allow the vehicle to pass and the vehicle made the same lane change. The vehicle continued to speed up and slow down behind the victim until it pulled alongside as they were approaching Seneca St. and fired three times toward the victim.

The victim described the vehicle as an early 2000s red Lexus sedan with damage to the driver’s side fender and tinted windows which prevented him from being able to describe the suspect. Thankfully no injuries were incurred to the victim.

Below is a picture of the victim vehicle which was struck once. The victim was driving a gold Chevrolet Impala.

WSP detectives are seeking any witnesses to this shooting and information on the suspect and vehicle. Please contact Detective Haake at (425) 401-7717 or by email at Russ.Haake@wsp.wa.gov.
