I-90 Shooting Suspect Arrested for Murder

Spokane County – On July 15th, 2022 at approximately 2140 hours, WSP Communications received a 9-1-1 call of a road rage incident that led to a shooting and collision on eastbound I-90 near Thor/Freya Streets. During the event, David N. Knoepfle, DOB: 3/23/1988 was found to be deceased from a gunshot wound.  His vehicle left I-90 and collided with a fence after the shooting.  In the course of the investigation, WSP Detective Troy Corkins developed probable cause to arrest Treven F. Lewis, DOB: 7/23/1993 for Murder in the second degree, a class A felony.  A warrant was issued for Lewis’ arrest.

This afternoon, July 20th, 2022 at approximately 1516 hours, Lewis was located and taken into custody without incident.  He was booked into the Spokane County Jail.  Locating and arresting Lewis was a collaborative effort by WSP Detectives, WSP Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team and the following agencies:  United States Customs and Border Patrol, United States Marshals Service, Homeland Security Investigations, Spokane County Sheriff’s Office and Stevens County Sheriff’s Office. We thank every agency that was involved with this incident.
