February 13, 2023

Bremerton, Wash. – The Washington State Patrol (WSP), Bremerton Police Department (BPD), Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), Bainbridge Island Police Department (BIPD), and Port Orchard Police Department (POPD) will conduct a 24 hour Traffic Safety/DUI emphasis patrol on Friday, Feb. 17, 2023 starting at 0600 hours. The focus area includes all state routes that run from the Hood Canal Bridge to the Tacoma Narrows. Troopers in Pierce County will continue the emphasis from the Tacoma Narrows Bridge to SR 512.

The agencies have combined efforts with a 24 hour long emphasis patrol in Kitsap County, with saturation patrols in areas of peak times of collisions and crime as dictated by agency collected data.

Participating law enforcement utilize an all crimes approach with a focus on collision causing violations. The large law enforcement presence is also aimed at deterring criminal activity in high crime areas.

The WSP results from the last year’s Bridge to Bridge emphasis patrol on Feb. 18, 2022 included 9 drivers arrested for DUI, 79 traffic stops for speed violations, and 29 aggressive driving violations.
