GIG HARBOR, Wash. – A 73-year-old Gig Harbor woman sustained serious injuries after being involved in a hit-and-run collision in Gig Harbor on Wednesday afternoon. Washington State Patrol (WSP) detectives seek the public’s assistance to help identify the fleeing driver.

At approximately 12:59 p.m., a stolen gray Ford F350 pickup truck was traveling east in the westbound lanes of state Route 16 at state Route 302 and collided head-on with a Toyota Highlander SUV, seriously injuring its 73-year-old passenger. The male driver of the Ford pickup truck exited the vehicle and fled on foot towards SR-302.

Shortly after the collision, a white Ford Ranger pickup truck stopped at the scene. The female driver exited the truck and contacted witnesses, explaining that the driver of the Ford F350 was her boyfriend. After obtaining information regarding his whereabouts, she quickly returned to the Ford Ranger and left the scene. The Ford Ranger is believed to be associated with the F350 involved in the collision, which was reported to be stolen from the Tacoma Mall parking lot in the morning. For information regarding the theft of the vehicle, contact Tacoma Police Department (TPD).

Witnesses described the male driver of the Ford F350 as 5’8” tall, white, heavy-set, in his late 30s, with brown, curly hair and a short beard. The driver of the Ford Ranger was described as a white female in her 30s with long, dark hair and purple ends.

Anyone with additional information regarding the fleeing suspect and his girlfriend is asked to contact WSP Detective Kevin Pratt at (253) 538-3173.
