August 31, 2023

King County: Labor Day Weekend 2023 is upon us and the Washington State Patrol (WSP) wants to stress the importance of making good choices while enjoying the events that are occurring around the King County area.

Below are the statistics for what WSP troopers were involved in over the 2022 Labor Day weekend.

DUI – 21
Speed – 448
Seatbelts – 19
Collisions – 115
Fatal Collisions – 2
Distracted Driving – 60
Aggressive Driving – 232

Troopers will be out patrolling both day and night looking for impaired drivers and those driving in an unsafe manner that endangers others on the roadways. Drive with patience and courtesy and expect more traffic throughout the weekend.

The Mobile Impaired Driving Unit (MIDU) will be deployed to process those arrested for suspicion of impaired driving to enable patrols to spend as much time as possible on the roadways.
