Trooper Involved in Collision in Mason County

Olympia, Wash. –  The Washington State Patrol (WSP) confirms one of our troopers was involved in a collision that resulted in two fatalities in Mason County this afternoon.

The collision occurred at 2:37 p.m. on U.S. Highway 101, six miles south of Shelton, Wash.  The involved trooper was not seriously injured, but transported to a local hospital as a precaution.

The investigation of this tragic incident is in its early stages and no additional details are available at this time.

The Mason County Sherrif’s Office (MCSO) is the primary investigating agency.  The roadway will likely be closed well into the evening hours. Motorists are advised to find alternate routes.  A media staging area is being set up in the parking lot of the Little Creek Casino Resort and all media inquiries are requested to be sent to MCSO Deputy Matt Colbenson at 360-888-7226.
