July 9, 2024

King County: At approximately 12:10am on July 8, 2024, Washington State Patrol (WSP) communications received a 9-1-1 call from an individual advising he was shot at approaching the onramp from Columbia to NB I-5.

The caller stated they were not injured and would be waiting off the James St. exit for contact.

Once troopers contacted the victim, they were able to verify that the vehicle was struck by gunfire in several places and recovered evidence from the vehicle. The victim was driving a black four door sedan and stated they were on Columbia just getting ready to take the ramp to NB I-5 when they heard louds pops and noticed the window was shattered.  The only other vehicle in the area was an unknown vehicle with unknown driver entering the other ramp to SB I-5.

WSP detectives are seeking any information on this shooting and anyone that was in this area at the time this occurred.  Please contact Detective Early at Todd.Early@wsp.wa.gov.
