HOV Emphasis On SR 520 Yielded Two Felony Eluding Suspects

August 1, 2024

King County: Yesterday morning, July 31, 2024, Washington State Patrol motorcycle troopers conducted an HOV emphasis on SR 520 to address numerous complaints from the public.

The emphasis was conducted from 7:30am to 9:30am. During this time 53 traffic stops were conducted, 42 were HOV and 2 were a motorcycle and a car fleeing.

The first eluding suspect was riding the motorcycle in the picture below. The stop was initiated for splitting lanes and no license plate displayed. This occurred WB SR 520 approaching Montlake Blvd around 9:20am. The rider took off possibly striking the barrier and splitting lanes to get away.

The second eluding was shortly after the first one and occurred EB SR 520 east of Montlake Blvd. A black Infinity G35x sedan (pictured below) had no plates and all windows to include the front windshield were blacked out. The vehicle also had a very loud exhaust. The suspect initially pulled to the right shoulder and took off as soon as the trooper was approaching the vehicle. The trooper pursued the suspect across the bridge and terminated when the vehicle passed on the shoulder. It is believed the vehicle exited to NB I-405.

The Washington State Patrol is asking anyone that has information that will assist in identifying the suspects and vehicles to email Trooper Brock at Tony.Brock@wsp.wa.gov.
