Detectives Seeking Witnesses To A Shooting On I-5

King County: At approximately 2:20pm on February 18, 2025, Washington State Patrol (WSP) communications received a 9-1-1 call from a victim stating that they were shot at by the driver of an older silver BMW on SB I-5.

The victim stated that they were traveling SB I-5 near Columbian when the driver of the older silver BMW fired a shot at his vehicle shattering the rear window. Both vehicles continued south on I-5 driving erratically and weaving through traffic. As the vehicles approached mid-Boeing field the two vehicles collided causing a three-car collision.

Troopers arrived at the scene and took the suspect into custody. The suspect was identified as Tyler James Ackerman, 28 years-old and was subsequently booked into the King County Jail for investigation of Assault.

WSP detectives are seeking any witnesses who observed any interaction between these two vehicles between the Spring St. / 6th entrance to SB I-5 and mid-Boeing Field. Please email Detective Early at ToddEarly@wsp.wa.gov.
