Indigenous Peoples’ Day

October 11, 2021

Last week, President Biden issued a proclamation observing today, October 11, as Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

Twelve states and Washington D.C have chosen to forgo the Columbus Day that marked the beginning of colonization of the native communities and have instead chosen to honor the resilience, strength and the measurable impact that the indigenous people have had on the American society.

The Washington State Patrol is proud to support our Indigenous citizens and celebrates the beauty and contributions of communities and tribal government to Washington State.
