WSP seeking witnesses and in-car video to fatality collision

STANWOOD, Wash – The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is actively investigating a fatality collision that occurred at 1:02 p.m. on January 20, 2025, on northbound Interstate 5 just north of milepost 212.

A silver 2012 Infinity G37 sedan was northbound Interstate 5 near milepost 212 when the Infinity passed traffic on the left shoulder. The Infinity lost control on the left shoulder and crossed all lanes of traffic back to the right and struck the trailer of a white 2020 Kenworth T680 semi-truck.

Witnesses to the collision reported the Infinity was racing a green 2021 Dodge Challenger prior to the collision.

WSP detectives are asking witnesses of the collision or the racing prior to the collision to call Detective Jeff Rhue at (360) 654-1142 or email him at Jeff.Rhue@wsp.wa.gov. WSP detectives also request any in-car dash camera footage from the collision or the racing prior to the collision. Your assistance is appreciated as detectives investigate this tragic collision.
