MOUNT VERNON, Wash – The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is actively investigating an injury hit-and-run collision that occurred at 9:23 a.m. on March 24, 2025, on northbound Interstate 5 milepost 228 near the Skagit River Bridge.
A 2000’s gold Toyota Avalon with an unknown license plate was northbound on Interstate 5 near the Skagit River Bridge in lane one. The tow truck was northbound Interstate 5 on the right shoulder with a semi-truck. The Avalon failed to move over and struck the tow truck driver as he walked back to contact the trooper on scene. The Avalon continued northbound Interstate 5 and was seen taking the exit to George Hopper Rd.
Camera footage captured the Avalon that was involved in the hit-and-run injury collision. A distinctive feature about the Avalon is that it has black front wheels, and silver wheel covers on the rear wheels. See screen shot below from the camera footage.
