Successes of 2020
The Washington State Fire Training Academy (FTA) was under limited operation in 2020, due to impacts form the COVID-19 pandemic. During this past year the Fire Training Academy completed a major training water treatment project that improved training water quality and allowed for the use of firefighter training foam. The FTA special use permit was approved by King County. This permit is a major success for the FTA and allows for capital improvement projects to begin, bringing the FTA master plan closer to realization. Other success include, campus wide WIFI that will increase the FTA’s ability to advance training across campus by utilizing various medias and opens opportunities to conduct distance learning classes, as well as, blended courses to the fire service.
