Cowlitz County – On April 24, 2021, at 7:50 a.m., Washington State Patrol (WSP) responded to a fatality collision northbound Interstate 5 (I-5) at milepost 45. The initial investigation shows that a passenger vehicle and tow truck were on the right shoulder. The tow truck driver was loading a vehicle onto the tow truck when a blue 2011 BMW 3-Series struck the rear of the passenger vehicle and tow truck. Three people died on scene, and two were transported with serious injuries.
WSP detectives are examining all aspects that led to this collision and are seeking additional witnesses that may have information surrounding this collision, or events leading up to it.
