WSP Seeks Assistance Locating a Shooting Suspect

TACOMA – A motorist was targeted and shot at by the driver of another vehicle on southbound I -5 at the interchange ramp to S 84th Street. Washington State Patrol (WSP) detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the fleeing vehicle and driver.

On Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at approximately 3:15 p.m., a green Chevrolet pick-up truck was traveling southbound on I-5 at the interchange ramp to S 84th Street near mile marker 128 in Pierce County. The vehicle stopped in front of a four-door Mercedes passenger car, described as possibly blue in color. The driver of the Mercedes exited his vehicle and fired two to three shots at the pick-up truck, striking it once in the rear window. After getting back into his vehicle, he left the scene towards S 84th Street.

The driver of the Mercedes was described as an approximately 25-year-old black male with long, curly hair. While unable to determine the exact color of the vehicle, witnesses provided investigators with a partial license plate containing the following sequence of letters: BZW
