WSP Seeks Assistance Locating a Drive-by Shooting Suspect

LAKEWOOD – A motorist was targeted and shot at by the driver of another vehicle on southbound I- 5, just north of Bridgeport Way SW. Washington State Patrol (WSP) detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the fleeing vehicle and driver.

On Sunday, February 27, 2022, at approximately 4:54 p.m., a white Volkswagen passenger car was traveling southbound on I-5, just north of Bridgeport Way SW near mile marker 125 in Pierce County. An unknown suspect fired one shot from another vehicle into the Volkswagen’s front passenger door. The bullet passed through the female driver’s right forearm and lodged in her abdomen. She was transported to Madigan Medical Center and is in stable condition.

While no details regarding the shooting suspect and vehicle are available at this time, anyone who may have witnessed road rage or aggressive driving behaviors on southbound I-5 from S 84th Street and Bridgeport Way SW between 4:45 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. may be able to provide valuable information.
