WSP Seeking Witnesses To A Shooting On I-5 Near The West Seattle Freeway

King County: At approximately 1:00am this morning, March 28, 2022, Washington State Patrol (WSP) communications received a 9-1-1 call in which the caller stated they were being shot at by another vehicle NB I-5 near the West Seattle Freeway.

The victim vehicle exited the freeway and troopers along with Seattle Police Officers were able to locate the vehicle at 4th and Denny in Seattle.  The driver of the victim vehicle had sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and was transported to Harborview Medical Center with a non-life threatening injury.  The female passenger in his vehicle was uninjured.

The victim advised that they were traveling NB I-5 near the West Seattle Freeway in their 2017 Black Ford Escape when a red older model Honda Civic came up behind them and fired several shots one of which struck the driver in the leg.  They exited the freeway and were able to flag down a Seattle Police officer and shortly after troopers arrived.  The suspect vehicle was not located in the area.

WSP detectives are actively investigating leads in this shooting and seeking anyone that may have witnessed this crime.  Please contact Detective Medeiros at Ruth.Medeiros@wsp.wa.gov  if you are a witness or have any information on the suspect and vehicle.

Update: On March 31, 2022 charges were submitted to the King County Prosecutor’s Office by WSP detectives.  The charges were filed and an arrest warrant was issued for Hamza Osman, 26 year old male from Seattle for Drive by Shooting and Assault 1st degree. On April 4, 2022, Osman was located in south Seattle and was taken into custody and booked into the King County Jail.
