LAKEWOOD – Washington State Patrol (WSP) detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying and locating the suspect of a drive-by shooting that occurred on northbound Interstate 5 near Bridgeport Way SW in Lakewood.

On Saturday, June 25, 2022, at approximately 8:41 p.m., a silver Kia Rio sedan entered the interchange ramp from Bridgeport Way SW to northbound Interstate 5. While on the ramp, the Kia merged in front of a black Lincoln SUV, which immediately began tailgating it. After both vehicles had entered northbound Interstate 5, the driver of the Lincoln pulled beside the Kia’s driver’s side, pulled a green handgun, and fired two shots at the sedan. One round entered the Kia through the rear driver-side door and struck the inside of the rear passenger door. The black Lincoln SUV continued northbound on Interstate 5.

The driver of the Lincoln was described as a dark-skinned male. While no additional details regarding the shooting suspect and vehicle are available at this time, anyone who may have witnessed road rage or aggressive driving behaviors on northbound Interstate 5 between Bridgeport Way SW and State Route 512 around 8:40 p.m. may be able to provide valuable information.

WSP Detectives request assistance to locate the suspect and vehicle. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Detective Tessa Schahfer at (253) 538-3172.
