WSP takes lead of KCSO officer involved shooting

BREMERTON – The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is conducting an investigation into an officer involved shooting involving the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) that occurred the afternoon of Sunday, July 24, 2022.

The investigation is ongoing and details are limited at this time as WSP detectives collect evidence, conduct interviews, and forensically document the scene. Details that can be confirmed at this time are as follows:

  • At around 6:30 p.m., a subject was driving a vehicle, fleeing from an earlier incident off Harlow Drive in Bremerton. (The Harlow Drive incident is being investigated by the Bremerton Police Department (BPD). All media inquiries into the earlier incident should be forwarded to BPD.)
  • The subject crashed the vehicle in the area of Price Road Northwest in Bremerton.
  • Shots were fired by KCSO personnel. The number of officers involved and number of shots fired remains under investigation at this time.
  • No injuries were sustained as a result of the shooting incident, either to the fleeing subject or KCSO personnel.

Media updates will be provided as the investigation continues and additional information becomes available.
