SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. – The Washington State Patrol (WSP) focused their efforts to reduce serious injury and fatality collisions, as well as interdict crime during a “High Visibility Enforcement” (HiVE) patrol on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022.
The emphasis was the first of four scheduled HiVE patrols. Saturday’s efforts focused in and around the area of Interstate 5 from milepost 181 to 188 between Lynwood and Everett, which WSP data shows has historically seen high volumes of serious injury and fatality collisions. The HiVE patrol was in conjunction with efforts across the state.
Future HiVE patrols are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 26, Saturday, Dec. 17, and Saturday, Dec. 31.
The results from the Nov. 19 HiVE are as follows during the 24-hour saturation patrol:

- Speed stops w/ warnings: 10
- Aggressive driving w/ infractions: 52
- Aggressive driving w/ warnings: 0
- Distracted driving contacts: 1
- Seatbelt violations: 1
- Negligent driving 2nd degree: 1
- Criminal offense citations/arrests: 4
- Recovered stolen vehicles: 2
- Collision: 11 (4 were hit and runs)
The criminal offense citations/arrest included DUI with a preliminary breath test (PBT) result of .086, felony drug arrest with 33 fentanyl pills, felony eluding and a minor in possession of a firearm.
