TACOMA, Wash. – A 63-year-old Tacoma man sustained serious injuries after being involved in a hit-and-run collision in Tacoma earlier this month. Washington State Patrol (WSP) detectives are seeking the public’s assistance to help identify the fleeing vehicle and driver.

The Tacoma man was driving a Dodge Caravan southbound on Interstate 5 approaching the exit for Interstate 705 at approximately 12 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022. Interstate 5 is comprised of five southbound lanes in this area.

An unknown vehicle also traveling southbound moved from the center lane to the right by one lane, which was occupied by a Subaru Outback. The driver of the Subaru swerved to the far right lane to avoid a collision and struck the rear of the Dodge.

The impact pushed the Dodge into the rear of an Acura MDX SUV, which subsequently collided with the rear of a Ford F150 pickup truck. The driver of the unknown vehicle continued and exited to northbound I-705.

So far witnesses have been unable to provide investigators with the causing vehicle’s style, color, make, model, or any description of its occupants. Anyone with additional information related to the collision is asked to contact WSP Detective Tessa Schahfer at (253) 538-3172.
