WSP Media Release Cover

February 11, 2023

King County: The Super Bowl has arrived once again! This Sunday there will be extra patrols out looking for impaired drivers and keeping the roadways safe.

The Mobile Impaired Driving Unit (MIDU) will be strategically deployed to assist in processing suspected impaired drivers that are arrested. It will be staffed to process those that are arrested so state, local and county agencies can spend more time looking for suspected impaired drivers.

Below are the number of suspected impaired drivers that were arrested by troopers in King County.

Super Bowl 2020 – 12
Super Bowl 2021 – 15
Super Bowl 2022 – 18

The Washington State Patrol (WSP) wants to stress the importance of having a plan to insure that only those who are sober get behind the wheel tomorrow and every other day! Celebrate responsibly and enjoy the big game!
