TACOMA, Wash. – The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is seeking witnesses of a shooting that occurred on State Route 16 between Sprague and Union Avenues on Thursday evening.

A silver Honda Accord was traveling westbound on SR 16 between Sprague Avenue and Union Avenue at around 5:20 p.m. when the driver of a red Toyota Celica pulled alongside the Honda’s passenger side. The driver of the Toyota allegedly produced a silver or grey semi-automatic handgun and fired a single shot, striking the Honda’s right rear door. The Toyota was last seen continuing westbound on SR 16 at Center Drive.

Witnesses described the driver of the Toyota as a white male in his mid-30s with short, dark hair, short facial hair, and freckles or acne. While unable to determine the vehicle’s license plate information, the Toyota Celica is described as early 2000s model with black aftermarket wheels, a tall fin spoiler, and aftermarket taillights with possibly black housing.

WSP detectives request assistance in locating the suspect and vehicle. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Detective Travis Calton at (360) 918-4032.
