WSP Media Release Cover

May 25, 2023

King County: At approximately 10:00pm last night, May 24, 2023, Washington State Patrol (WSP) communications received a 9-1-1 call from a victim reporting that they were shot at on I-90. The victim stated they were not injured and requested contact at the Bellevue Park and Ride.

Troopers contacted the victim and were able to confirm their vehicle was struck by gunfire. The victim stated they were traveling WB I-90 in Bellevue in a silver Nissan Altima when a green SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Tahoe, started following them very close. The SUV passed the victim on the right then changed lanes back in front of the victim. The victim flashed their high beams at the SUV and changed lanes to pass while making hand gestures at which time the driver of the SUV fired several shots. The victim slowed and as the SUV passed more shots were fired. The SUV fled in an unknown direction.

The victim described the other driver as an African American male with no eye brows and a medium length afro.

The Washington State Patrol would like to stress to drivers NOT to engage with other vehicles that are driving aggressively. Remove yourself from the situation however possible because you don’t know that the other person is capable of doing.

WSP detectives are seeking anyone that may have witnessed this shooting or has information on the suspect or suspect vehicle to contact Detective Early at Todd.Early@wsp.wa.gov.
