NORTH BEND, WA – You are invited to attend our annual Washington State Fallen Firefighter’s Memorial Service this Sunday, August 13, 2023, at the Washington State Fire Training Academy. At this year’s memorial service, we will be honor our following Brothers and Sisters:
Firefighter Matthew Thomas Runte of the Seattle Fire Department
Firefighter/Paramedic Joe Killian of Clark County Fire District 6
Assistant Chief Dean Crosswhite of Whatcom County Fire District 7
Firefighter Dan Patterson of the Spokane Valley Fire Department
Assistant Chief Larry Spohn of South Pierce Fire and Rescue
Firefighter/Paramedic John Garner of Central Pierce Fire and Rescue
Firefighter Michele J. Williams of the Seattle Fire Department
We will memorialize these firefighters with a procession, a bell ceremony, plaque presentations to the families, and by hanging ribbons with their names embroidered on them on the memorial pike pole. While their loss is profound, our Brothers and Sisters will forever be in our hearts.
The memorial service will begin at 1:00 p.m. The Washington State Fire Training Academy is located at 50810 Grouse Ridge Road about five miles off I-90 east of North Bend. A remote location, the trip normally takes between 45 minutes to an hour from Seattle. Take exit 38 from I-90 E. Turn Right onto SE Homestead Valley Rd. After 3.7 miles, SE Homestead Valley Rd turns slight right and becomes Grouse Ridge Road.
