January 15, 2024

PUYALLUP, Wash. – The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is seeking witnesses of a collision that tragically killed five people Sunday morning on state Route 512 in Puyallup.

The collision was reported at 4:22 a.m. on SR 512 at the 31st Street Southwest overpass. A silver 2017 Ford Flex traveling eastbound rounding a lefthand curve went off the roadway to the right and struck a concrete support pillar beneath the overpass.

The vehicle became engulfed in flames following the impact. All five occupants, including one who was ejected from the vehicle, were pronounced deceased at the scene.

WSP detectives are seeking witnesses to the collision, as well as anyone who may have additional information about what may have led to the crash.

Our hearts go out to the family and friends of those who lost their lives in this tragedy. We are also grateful for the patience of those affected by the more than eight-hour road closure as we conducted our on-scene investigation.

Detectives are examining all aspects that led to this tragedy and are seeking additional witnesses who may have information surrounding this tragic event. Anyone with additional information about the collision is asked to contact Detective Evan Clark at (360) 688-3408, evan.clark@wsp.wa.gov or Detective Sergeant Jason Kraus at (360) 870-4598, jason.kraus@wsp.wa.gov.
