Witnesses Needed For A Hit And Run Fatality

April 26, 2024

King County: Just prior to 2am this morning, April 26, 2024, a Washington State Patrol (WSP) trooper observed an individual laying in the left lane of SB I-5 near the Madison St. overpass.

The trooper called for the Seattle Fire Department and additional troopers to provide traffic control. Unfortunately, the individual was not able to be saved and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Through further investigation WSP detectives were able to determine that the subject fell from the Madison St. overpass and was subsequently struck by a vehicle. The vehicle did not stop and at this point there is no description of the hit and run vehicle.

WSP detectives are seeking witnesses with information to include dashcam video which may be able to assist in identifying the vehicle that struck the individual.

Please contact Detective Russ Haake at Russ.Haake@wsp.wa.gov.
