King County: At approximately 12:20pm, yesterday, June 19, 2025, Washington State Patrol (WSP) communications started receiving 9-1-1 calls reporting a serious car / pedestrian collision westbound I- 90 between SR 18 and the Preston exit.
Additional calls were received reporting that the vehicle that struck the pedestrian was a black Toyota Sequoia which fled the scene and ended up disabled prior to the exit to Preston where the driver was ultimately taken into custody after an attempted carjacking and altercation with troopers.
Once troopers and detectives arrived, they were able to determine that the pedestrian was associated with a red vehicle that was disable on the right shoulder in the area of the collision. The pedestrian crossed the freeway and was struck by the suspect vehicle that was driving on the left shoulder and unfortunately did not survive.
