WSP Seeks Witnesses to I-5 Shooting

TACOMA, Wash. – The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is seeking witnesses to a drive-by shooting that injured a 35-year-old man this morning on the interchange ramp from southbound Interstate 5 to westbound state Route 16.

The victim was driving a black 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee on the interchange ramp from southbound I-5 to westbound SR 16 just after 8:40 a.m. on Sept. 11 when a black unknown four-door sedan pulled up alongside.

The driver of the sedan fired several shots at the Jeep, striking the driver in the shoulder. A female passenger of the Jeep was unharmed.

Witnesses described the driver of the black sedan as a light-skinned black male driver, and also observed a female passenger.
After the shooting, the black sedan fled the scene, continuing onto westbound SR 16.

Witnesses have been unable to provide investigators with any further details about suspects or their vehicle.
