SPOKANE, WA — The Washington State Patrol’s Eastern Washington Missing and Exploited Children Task Force (MECTF) has arrested 34-year-old Spokane resident Andre Smolyar following an extensive investigation involving the exploitation of minors.
Smolyar has been booked into the Spokane County Jail on the following charges:
• RCW 9A.36.060 – Promoting a suicide attempt
• RCW 9.68A.070 – Possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct
• RCW 9.68A.075 – Viewing depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct
• RCW 9.68A.090 – Communication with a minor for immoral purposes
During the course of the investigation, digital and physical evidence was obtained indicating that Smolyar may have committed additional forcible sexual assaults against minors. Detectives have further determined that Smolyar operated under multiple online identities, which he may have used to communicate with minors, and believe there may be additional victims in the areas of Spokane (WA), Colorado Springs (CO), and Orange County, California (CA).
The Washington State Patrol urges anyone with information about Andre Smolyar, his online activity, or potential victims to come forward.
