OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run that occurred on southbound Interstate 5 in Olympia last month.
The incident happened around 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, just north of Sleater Kinney Road. A pedestrian was lying in one of the two center lanes when they were struck by a white pickup truck. Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle did not stop and continued traveling southbound after the collision.
Investigators believe a white GMC pickup truck, pictured below, may have been involved in the crash. Anyone with information that could help identify the truck or its driver is urged to contact Detective Adam Gruener at adam.gruener@wsp.wa.gov or by phone at (253) 538-3176.
