NICS TRAINING ONLINE SESSION 2
July 26, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
NICS Class
The National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) is a computerized system designed to immediately determine a person’s eligibility to purchase a firearm by conducting a search of available records.
Use of the NICS is authorized to law enforcement agencies when processing a firearm transfer for a person purchasing a firearm, when a person is applying for or renewing their CPL, is applying to the Sheriff’s Offices for an Alien Firearm License or when an agency is releasing a firearm from evidence.
It is highly encouraged that agency personnel who conduct firearms background checks and are involved in the above processes attend NICS training.
NICS training sessions are intended to provide knowledge of the NICS process, the databases it inquires upon, the Federal Prohibitors, the Washington State Prohibitors, the NICS Indices, and the appeal process.
